This special surface makes it easy for anyone to create unique, vibrant art.
All supplies provided, and snacks are included.
Brought to you by SCARF and Ink People Center for the Arts from 2:00 - 4:30 pm at the Shelter Cove Art Gallery.

September 1st Art Gallery Reception
The featured artist was Mark Mitchell who talked about his art, and as is usual practice, every artist at the event was introduced and able to talk a little bit about their art too.
A large number of guests attended, and it was a very enjoyable evening for all. Artist Patrick Karnahan entertained the guests with wonderful music, and also sold two of his very special pieces of art. We believe that the amount he sold was the highest totaling sales for a single event. Perhaps it had something to do with his music really setting the mood!

Free Art Workshops thanks to a Grant from Ink People Center for the Arts
Thanks to a special grant from Ink People Center for the Arts, and brought to you by SCARF, Darcie Maassen and Venessa Kay, free workshops were held in April, June and August. The next workshop is scheduled for Saturday, October 26th - see above for more info.
The August 11th workshop was developed by Venessa and Darcie, and was a great success and lots of learning and fun.
The workshop started at the Lost Coast Labyrinth, with a full class of 20 people showing up. Vanessa spoke about the labyrinth’s origin and SCARF’s role in bringing it to fruition. Then Blu Graham from Lost Coast Adventure Tours spoke about the area’s history including flora and fauna both past and present. The plan then was to head to the coast for the next part of the workshop, however the coast was socked in with fog, so the group headed to the SCARF Art Gallery where the next guest speaker Howard Luke Lucas made a great presentation. Many of his paintings were on display, and he used them showing his methods and style. Howard also gave instruction on how to do Plein Air art and the benefits of painting outdoors.
Painting supplies were given to each student, and Howard walked the student’s through creating their own landscape painting, explaining layout and tools. The topic of Plein Air (painting out of doors) was so inspiring that some attendees said they now want to start a regular Plein Air group.
SCARF thanks our two guest speakers, Blu Graham and Howard Luke Lucas for their informative presentations, as well as Vanessa and Darcie for planning and putting the workshop on. And of course, that to all the students who were in the class.

Shelter Cove Art Gallery
The Shelter Cove Art Gallery is a volunteer gallery, by artists, for artists, supported by SCARF.
We display and sell art created by surrounding area artists, and a portion of the proceeds from art sales support SCARF projects. New artwork is rotated several times a year, in conjunction with 'meet the artist' wine receptions held throughout the year. These receptions offer excellent opportunities for locals and visitors to mingle with the artists, share refreshments, stories, and memories of time spent in our wonderful Cove. All wall hang-able mediums are welcome to be displayed in the gallery.
Our gallery is located at the Inn of the Lost Coast, open daily from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm, and is run by the SCARF Board of Directors, The Lost Coast Artists, and the Inn staff.
